Public Patch Notes

This page is a chronological index of major public RIG Riot demo updates, not a replacement for Sage Boatman’s own notes. Complete changelogs live on itch.devlog, with shorter copies on Steam news. This wiki summarizes the drops listed below. It does not invent patch numbers, hidden hotfixes, or balance sheets that were never posted.

Steam lists a September 14, 2026 launch window. The demo can be downloaded on Steam and itch.io. itch file version around 81 is a ~2.8 GB zip. If your client is older than the dates here, install from the Demo Guide before you argue with a number.

2025 devlogs and open playtest

YouTube @RIGRiot carries production devlogs from 2025. An open playtest followed. Those builds are history, not the current zip.

Demo on Steam and itch.io

The public demo sits on Steam as app 3992510 and on itch.io as rig-riot-windows-playtest.zip. itch.devlog is the canonical public list from this point forward. Steam news often mirrors the same text. When the two disagree, prefer the itch post Sage attached to the file you downloaded.

February 2026 — Next Fest trailer and Quad Leg update

A Steam Next Fest demo-update trailer in February 2026 showed quad legs. The Quad Leg demo update landed around February 20, 2026. Quad legs are the ground-focused second leg type; looted leg parts can roll as quads. That drop also touched starter-weapon options. Later February posts were bug-fix follow-ups; this page does not enumerate every hotfix.

If you still play a pre-quad client, update before you rebuild. Read garage customization after.

March 19, 2026 — Onboarding improvements

The March 19, 2026 onboarding update added raid tutorial pop-ups, HUD explainers, and a clearer split between Mission and Assault. Mission does not include respawning patrol enemies and scales with completed objectives instead of elapsed time. Assault keeps the timed pressure. Sage also asked non-English speakers to proofread in Discord channel rig-riot-localization, because the Steam listing is English-only.

The same post explained an April-to-May slip on the store window after a week of illness during time off a day job. That delay note belongs on Launch Window; the mechanical change belongs here.

July 14, 2026 — Bipeds, Arena, and Launch Date

The July 14, 2026 demo update is the large mid-year content drop. Public notes include:

  • Biped legs as part drops
  • Arena
  • New objectives
  • Bandit enemy
  • Weapon customization
  • Weapons saved to loadouts
  • Colors and palettes saved for later use
  • Interface customization and HUD opacity
  • Fire Demon gatling 210 to 60
  • Assassin load limit up
  • Watcher pack speed doubled
  • Charged status depleting 10% energy
  • Major objective pools based on how many majors you have finished
  • Locked stages hidden

Sage also pointed the store window at September in that post. Arena details live on the arena mode guide. Biped versus Quad notes live on quad and biped legs. Build theory after this drop belongs on weapons and mods and raids and objectives, not on a February memory of the demo.

September 8, 2026 — Bug fixes and build parity

September 8, 2026 is the build-parity patch: the demo was brought onto the same version as the release build so later bug fixes and performance work are in the public client. Sage warned that settings would reset so Steam Cloud would not sync old files. The published list is, in Sage’s words, not comprehensive. Public items included optimizations, hiding demo-ineligible achievements, square objective icons, Annelid part tweaks, Motivator health scaling as a tier-2 boss, a new settings folder for cloud saves, and garage, arena, loot, and scrap-conversion fixes. itch file version after this drop sat around 80–81; always read the zip version Sage attached to the post, not a number this wiki invents.

September 11, 2026 — More bug fixes

Sage’s itch post for September 11, 2026 opened with three days until the Steam window and a scramble to tighten the demo. Public change: enemy explosion volume increased. Public bug fixes:

  • Enemy RIGs not visually exploding on death
  • Compass arrows for objects above or below the player not showing
  • A boss reappearing and floating after being defeated
  • Not all intended part sets appearing as demo loot

Community notes on that post called the new death explosions more readable. If your compass still lies, confirm you are on this drop or later before you blame the controls bind list.

September 12, 2026 — Mini bug fixes

The September 12, 2026 mini patch (itch zip version 81, about 2.8 GB) listed two public fixes:

  • Achievements that are not available in the demo still appearing in the demo
  • ProtoScout upper-torso part mount sockets sitting too high

Sage’s note on that post was two days until the Steam window. This wiki does not invent extra hotfix lines. After any of the three September drops, re-apply HUD opacity and binds because the September 8 cloud-settings move can still wipe a local file if you skipped that client.

After you update

Check the itch zip version, then re-open the garage because September 8 reset settings. Rebind turbo boost on controls, restore HUD opacity in garage customization, and only then start a raid. Trust itch.devlog over older videos. Timing questions go to Launch Window. Install questions go to the Demo Guide.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common RIG Riot questions.

Where are the complete RIG Riot patch lists?

On itch.devlog, with shorter copies on Steam news. This page summarizes major public drops and does not invent patch numbers.

What was the July 14, 2026 demo update?

Biped legs, Arena, new objectives, Bandit enemies, weapon customization, loadout-saved weapons, saved palettes, HUD opacity, several balance moves, and hidden locked stages.

Why did my settings reset in September?

The September 8, 2026 build-parity patch moved the settings file for Steam Cloud. Sage warned the reset was required. Re-apply binds on controls.

What is itch file version 81?

The itch Windows zip around version 81 is about 2.8 GB. It is the public playtest file, not a patch number invented by this wiki. See the Demo Guide.

Did Fire Demon, Assassin, and Watcher change?

Yes, in the July 14 public notes: Fire Demon gatling 210 to 60, Assassin load limit up, Watcher pack speed doubled. Charged status also depletes 10% energy.

Should I still read older February notes?

Only as history. Quad legs around February 20, 2026 still matter if your client is that old, but July and September drops superseded most of that build. Update first.
