A RIG Riot build is a garage, not a loadout screenshot. Permanent parts persist; weapons and Volatile Mods reset with the raid. Steam lists a September 14, 2026 launch window. A demo can be downloaded on Steam and itch.io. Steam’s store copy names three combat archetypes — light mobile sniper, missile bombardments plus automatic rifles, tanky laser blades plus shotguns — and the demo adds a real chassis split: Quad-leg ground versus biped aerial. This page maps those lanes onto garage sets players actually mix: Scout, Scrapper, Bulwark, Assassin, and Watcher. Inner parts — boosters, TAS, generators — decide whether the shell can pay EN for the plan. This is a launch-window ranking, not a patched-live bible.

Read it with the weapon tier list and Volatile Mods. Mixing rules live in garage customization. Farming lives in how to get parts. First raid: getting started.

Capacity, weight, and inner parts

Weapon capacity comes from weight plus unused leg load limit. Sage’s notes: damage is balanced relative to a weapon’s weight requirement, so spare capacity is extra damage you are allowed to carry. A Scout that dumps weight to fly cannot honestly run the tank archetype. A Bulwark that fills every kilo cannot honestly run the sniper. Fortified-style mods were retuned to give equal Weight and Weight Load instead of flat capacity — believe the warning.

You can equip multiple starting weapons from the garage. Void Slot (the documented starter that blocks a slot from upgrade generation) keeps a sniper or a blade clean. Energy Blade is the tank melee: swing for the real damage; the held hit is extra credit.

Inner parts are the quiet ranks. Boosters pay horizontal speed when BST ON, plus dash, turbo, and wall-kick power. Scout loves them; Quad wants grounded boost more than air time. TAS is the targeting inner part — demo loadouts read range assist here; sniper lanes care, shotgun lanes care less. Generators refill EN. Watcher hover and flight boost die without them. A tank that never dumps EN can run a cheaper generator.

S/A/B/C shells mapped to Steam archetypes

S — Scout + light mobile sniper + biped. Boost speed is the Scout identity. Pair a jump backpack, a generator that survives BST ON, and TAS range assist. Biped aerial makes the ridge real: look, wall jump with no movement for height, wall kick with movement, hold jump for flight. Movement and energy Volatile Mods from the mod list keep it S. If you hang a heavy shotgun on this shell, it is C.

S — Watcher + sniper or rifle + biped. Watcher backpack hover drains EN until you land or empty the bar. A public balance pass doubled the horizontal movement speed boost on the Watcher pack. Hover is S for sightlines and package routes, A in interiors where you should have been Quad. Dash boosting while hovering can reactivate hover — that is a documented feel change. Feed it energy-type mods.

A — Scrapper + missile/AR, either chassis. Scrapper backpack is the sustain shell: repair pickups drop in the world (a public patch even added a world icon so you can see them). Missile bombardments plus automatic rifles eat time; Scrapper buys that time. Quad grounded boost makes the barrage honest. Friendly-missile mods are the S-tier pairing.

A — Bulwark + blades/shotguns + Quad. Tank lane. HP, weight, and a generator that does not panic when BST is off. Quad legs are burstier, with shorter dash duration and higher grounded boost — Sage cut Quad jump power and raised grounded boost on purpose. Energy Blade swings and shotguns clear the room. After Fire Demon gatling dropped from 210 to 60 per projectile, this shell is A instead of a gamble. Biped Bulwark is B: you paid for armor and then spent it on hover tax.

A — Assassin + rifle or blade, either chassis. A public pass increased Assassin load limit, which is the entire point of the set: more leftover load means more weapon capacity. Assassin is A as a hybrid — rifle plus a blade, or sniper plus a light shotgun — because the extra limit lets you carry the second gun the Scout cannot. It is S only if you actually use the extra kilos.

B — mixed shells with no chassis plan. The garage allows mixed components from full sets; that is the game. Mixed is B when it is intentional (Scout speed on Assassin load). Mixed is C when every slot is “the highest number I just looted.” C is four heavy guns, no generator, Void Slot ignored.

Quad is a ground lane: missile/AR or shotgun, downward-dash mods, Scrapper or Bulwark. Biped is an air lane: Scout or Watcher, sniper or rifle, wall kicks, energy mods. Raids and objectives pick the chassis. How to play and controls are the movement exam.

Next steps for a first garage lock

Save two loadouts, not five. Loadout one: Scout or Watcher, biped, sniper, Void Slot on a junk mount, energy plus movement mods. Loadout two: Bulwark or Scrapper, Quad, blades and shotgun, on-hit plus death-proc mods. Run each once on the demo, then spend scrap only on the inner part that failed — booster, TAS, or generator. After that, go back to weapons if capacity still lies, or Volatile Mods if the six slots still do not talk to the guns. The garage is the rank. The raid is the test.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common RIG Riot questions.

What are the three Steam combat archetypes?

Light mobile sniper; missile bombardments plus automatic rifles; tanky laser blades plus shotguns. This page maps them onto Scout, Scrapper, Bulwark, Assassin, and Watcher.

Quad or biped for a first build?

Biped for sniper and Watcher hover. Quad for shotgun, blades, and grounded missile/AR. Details also sit on the weapon tier list.

What do inner parts actually do?

Boosters pay horizontal speed and dashes. TAS is the targeting inner part (range assist on sniper). Generators refill EN for hover and flight boost. Mix them in garage customization.

Why does Assassin show up as A?

A public balance pass increased Assassin load limit. Leftover load becomes weapon capacity, which lets the hybrid carry a second gun the Scout cannot.

Does Scrapper really drop repairs?

Yes. Public notes added a world icon for repair pickups from the Scrapper backpack. That is why it ranks as the sustain shell for missile/AR.

Where do Volatile Mods go on these shells?

Six slots, no stacking. Pick types on the Volatile Mods tier list that match the chassis: energy/movement for Watcher, on-hit/death for Bulwark.
