RIG Riot Weapon Tier List
Playstyle lanes for light, medium, and heavy guns — scored by energy, weight, and raid shape, not a fake DPS sheet.
RIG Riot weapons are not a spreadsheet of invented DPS. They are component-built, they sit in light / medium / heavy classes, and they only fire if your weapon capacity can hold their weight. Capacity comes from weight plus unused leg load limit. Steam’s copy names three combat archetypes: a light mobile sniper; missile bombardments plus automatic rifles; and a tanky mix of laser blades and shotguns. This page adds two chassis lanes the demo actually plays — Quad-leg ground and biped aerial — and ranks all five as S/A/B/C lanes. Steam lists a September 14, 2026 launch window. A demo can be downloaded on Steam and itch.io. This is a launch-window list from demo raids and public notes, not a patched-live meta with thousands of hours.
Read this with Volatile Mods and RIG Riot builds. Slot rules live in weapons and mods. If you have not finished the first raid tutorial, start at getting started instead.
How weapon capacity gates the list
Sage’s public notes are blunt: weapon capacity is powerful because damage is balanced relative to a weapon’s weight requirement. A heavier gun is supposed to hit harder. Leftover leg load lets you carry more of that weight. Starve capacity and you are stuck on light components even when the raid wants a shotgun. Fortified-style part mods were retuned away from flat capacity toward equal Weight and Weight Load — do not treat spare capacity as a free damage cheat.
HUD ammo is LS / RS / LH / RH — left shoulder, right shoulder, left hand, right hand. You can start with more than one garage weapon. Void Slot (later demo text also calls it a blocked slot) is a documented starter that stops a slot from being considered while upgrade options generate. Use it when you want a clean sniper or a clean blade.
Energy Blade is the documented melee example: a held hit versus a swing. Sage noted the held hit was balanced as if people used both, then admitted almost nobody holds the hit. The swing is the practical tank tool. The hold is extra credit. Do not rank Energy Blade as two different S-tier guns.
S/A/B/C lanes
S — light mobile sniper. Ridge fights, package routes with long sightlines, any raid where you can look, boost, and leave. It needs unused weight, a generator that refills EN after boosters, and TAS range assist if you are actually shooting far. Boosters on for horizontal speed, jump near a wall with no movement for extra height, jump with movement to kick off, hold jump for flight boost. If EN hits zero in the open, this lane falls to B. Pair it with movement and energy types on the Volatile Mods list.
S — missile bombardments plus automatic rifles. Steam’s well-rounded powerhouse. It wants medium weight, magazines that last to the objective, and enough EN to dash between volleys. Friendly dodged missiles (a documented Volatile Mod example) turn this lane from A into S on missile-drone stages. If you cannot see the sky, it is A. If you are Quad-legged and planted, it is still S because grounded boost multiplies the barrage.
A — tanky laser blades plus shotguns. Interiors, arenas, and fights where the objective will not wait for a sniper. The Fire Demon gatling nerf (210 to 60 per projectile) is why this lane is A instead of a coin-flip C: close range is less of an alpha-strike lottery than it was. You still need HP, a generator that survives BST ON, and the weight to carry heavy components. Energy Blade swings, not holds. If you try this on a long package carry without cover, it is B.
A — biped aerial. Not a gun — a chassis that makes sniper and rifle lanes real. Wall kicks, flight boost, and Watcher hover (EN drain while you stay up) let you take high ground the Quad cannot. It is A rather than S because hover tax is real. Pair with Scout or Watcher shells on the builds page.
B — Quad-leg ground. Burstier dashes, higher grounded boost, shorter dash duration. Excellent for missile/AR and shotgun, poor for a hover sniper. Sage reduced Quad jump multiplier while raising grounded boost — believe that. B as a default, S only when the raid is a floor fight.
C — mixed weight with no lane. Four guns that do not share a plan, a heavy blade on a Scout that cannot carry it, or Void Slot ignored while you accept every upgrade. Fix capacity first.
Raids and objectives beat “favorite gun.” Packages want speed. Arenas want magazines. Transports want the lane you fed all run. EN is the hidden rank: a sniper who lives in BST ON is S; a sniper who dumps EN and stands still is C with a long gun. Drill controls until look, boost, wall jump, and flight boost are automatic.
Next steps after you pick a lane
Lock one Steam archetype and one chassis, then spend a garage session proving the weight math: if the heavy shotgun does not fit, you do not have a tank. Take that proof to Volatile Mods for the six-slot types that feed the lane, then to RIG Riot builds for Scout / Scrapper / Bulwark / Assassin / Watcher shells. Farm loop: how to get parts. If the HUD still lies, drill controls before you reroll another gun.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common RIG Riot questions.
Why is there no numerical DPS table?
Weapon damage is balanced relative to weight, and capacity comes from weight plus unused leg load. A fake DPS sheet would contradict Sage’s own notes. Stay on lanes.
What are the three Steam archetypes?
Light mobile sniper; missile bombardments plus automatic rifles; tanky laser blades plus shotguns. Chassis lanes (Quad vs biped) sit beside them here and on builds.
What does Void Slot do?
It is a documented starter that prevents a slot from being considered while upgrade options generate. Later demo text also describes it as a blocked slot. Use it to keep a lane clean.
Should I hold Energy Blade or swing it?
Sage noted almost nobody uses the held hit, so the swing is the practical tank tool. The hold is extra credit, not a second S-tier gun.
Where do Volatile Mods fit with these lanes?
Six slots, no stacking. Rank types on the Volatile Mods tier list and only pick mods that feed the lane you locked here.
